Important Update to Students in the United States and Canada

Dear Students,

As a follow-up to the email sent by CBIE on March 28th, 2013, we would like to inform you that, to the best of our knowledge, funds for the second quarter Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) ( April – June 2013 ) have now been processed through the Ministry of Finance, and it is our expectation that CBIE will receive the funds by end of next week.

Furthermore, we have recently learned that t he second quarter budget funds are earmarked for students who are on the attached list from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and who are actively pursuing their studies as per the Ministry’s regulations. CBIE has provided the Ministry with an updated list that accurately reflects the number of active students currently in North America. However, until the list is updated by the Ministry and additional funds are transferred, the Ministry has instructed CBIE to pay MLA only to the students on the Ministry’s second quarter budget lists.

Both the Ministry and CBIE will work together to hopefully resolve the status of students who have not been included in the Ministry’s second quarter budget list. We fully understand the serious implications such delays in funding will have on all students, and we assure you that we are taking every step possible to obtain the required funds as quickly as possible so that we may resume full operations.

Additionally, we must bring to your attention the fact that we have not yet received the second quarter funds for health insurance and tuition fees. We have discussed this issue on multiple occasions with the Ministry officials and we hope to receive the required funds for the tuition and insurance soon.

We appreciate your patience and understanding and we will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
