Dear Libyan Students in the United States,
CBIE would like to provide you with some important program updates:
Insurance
Based on our recent communication with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, we expect to receive the 2013/2014 health insurance budget within the next 2-3 weeks. Therefore, eligible students will continue to be covered under the health insurance plan through June 30th, 2014. The anticipated budget will cover the outstanding insurance balance from April 2013 to April 2014 and will ensure continuous health coverage beyond June 30th as well.
June MLA
As a result of overall budget delays and shortfalls, CBIE is regrettably unable to release the June MLA until the above-mentioned insurance budget is received. We will continue to track the budget closely with the Ministry and will notify students as soon as the funds are received, which will allow us to immediately process the June MLA to all eligible students.
Third/Fourth Quarter MLA Budget
CBIE is currently communicating with the Ministry and the Scholarship Department to request an anticipated timeline for receiving the MLA funds and the accompanying lists for the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2014.
Office Closure – Victoria Day/ Journée nationale des patriotes (in Québec)
Please note that the CBIE office will be closed on Monday, May 19th, 2014 for Victoria Day/ Journée nationale des patriotes (in Québec). Operations will resume the following day, on Tuesday May 20th, 2014.
CBIE will continue to work closely with the Ministry and the Libyan Embassy in D.C. to help bridge any funding gaps currently impacting the students and the scholarship program as a whole. We will keep you apprised of any new developments as they happen. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
